What’s the difference between stereo and stem mastering?
Stereo mastering works with your final mix as one stereo file. Stem mastering uses 2-5 separate groups (vocals, drums, bass, instruments, etc.) for more precise control during the mastering process.
How should I prepare my mix for mastering?
Export your final mix as a WAV or AIFF file at the same bit depth and sample rate as the mix. Leave about -3 to -6dB of headroom (don’t let it clip or hit 0dB). Remove any limiters or mastering plugins from your master channel. If you were using a limiter, please send a screenshot for reference.
How long does mastering take?
