Tired of buying plugins to fix your mix?

Another plugin is rarely the answer.

Most mixes that feel “almost there” aren’t missing a plugin. They’re missing a few decisions: a vocal sitting in the wrong place, low end fighting itself, a reverb that’s smearing the whole record.

Those are hard to hear on your own song after you’ve played it 200 times. They’re easy for me to hear on the first listen, because I’ve been doing this every day for over 20 years.

What’s in your video

  • What’s already working, so you don’t accidentally fix the good parts.
  • The biggest things holding the mix back, in order of how much they matter.
  • How I’d fix each one, and whether it’s something you can do yourself.
  • A straight answer on whether the song needs a new mix, just a master, or a few tweaks.

No sales call. If you want me to mix it, great. If you’d rather fix it yourself, the video tells you how. Either way, you’ll know what to do next.

Who’s listening

I’m Matty Harris.

I’m a mixing and mastering engineer based in Los Angeles, with 490+ credits including A$AP Rocky, Kelly Clarkson, Travis Barker and Sammy Adams. I started at Berklee, grew up playing drums in jazz and rock bands, and have spent most of my career in pop and hip hop studios.

These days I mix and master records for independent artists and producers all over the world. A lot of them first found me through my YouTube channel.

A few honest limits

  • Send a stereo bounce, not stems or a session. Rough is fine. That’s the point.
  • One song per person. Pick the one you care about most.
  • 10 reviews a week. If the week is already full, I’ll email you to let you know when yours is coming.
  • I do every review personally. It’s never passed to an assistant.

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. No card, no catch. You’ll join my email list, where I send mixing tips and the occasional offer, and you can unsubscribe any time.

Does my mix need to be finished?

No. Rough mixes are exactly what this is for. The earlier I hear it, the more useful the notes are.

Who hears my song?

Just me. Your song and your video stay private and are never shared or posted anywhere.

What if I want you to mix it after?

Reply to the email with your video and we’ll talk about it. You’ll already know exactly what I’d change, so there are no surprises.
